With Windows Login Integration, WatchDog will automatically use the current Windows user to validate the login. With this setup, every user has his/her own Windows account. They never have to log in to WatchDog or see or know that WatchDog is installed on their computer.

Important: Before you proceed with this guide, make sure that each user of the computer has his/her own Windows account and has already logged in to their accounts. For detailed instructions on how to create Windows accounts in Windows XP, see this Microsoft’s tutorial. After this you can proceed with this guide by following these steps:

  1. Log in with a parent account
  2. Double-click on the WatchDog icon in the “System Tray” (bottom-right corner of the configuration screen)
  3. In the left navigation bar, click on “Options”
  4. Open the “User Authentication” tab:
  5. Enable “Windows User Database” (see image above). If you’re asked to generate a user list, select “Yes”. If WatchDog doesn’t ask you, please click on the “Generate User List…” link. The following window should open:

Important: Make sure that all the users you wish to grant access to the computer are on this list. Also make sure that these users are accurately set as parent/non-parent. You can toggle this setting by using the “Parent” and “Non-Parent” buttons in the above screen.
  6. For increased security, make sure the If user does not exist in the WatchDog database setting is set to Deny Access so that new Windows users cannot gain parent level permissions.
