To install WatchDog, please following these steps:

1. You may download the latest version of WatchDog from our download page. Save the file to your hard disk and unpack it.
2. Unzip the wdcurrent.zip and run the installation file, wdcurrent.exe. The WatchDog Installer will setup all of the required WatchDog and system files on your computer.
3. Once the WatchDog Installer has exited, you will be asked to reboot your machine. Note - Make sure to reboot your computer after installing WatchDog! Not doing this may cause problems when you start WatchDog for the first time!
4. After rebooting, the WatchDog Initial Setup should come up. If it does not, please run WatchDog from your Start Menu.
5. The WatchDog Initial Setup wizard will guide you through the process of setting up WatchDog on your computer.
   
6. Now you will need to setup a Parent User for your machine. Parent Users are the only users that can change WatchDog settings and users.
   
   Please be sure to write down your password in a safe place. If you lose your password, you will get locked out of Windows!
7. WatchDog allows you to create a “Backup Administrator” account in case your main Parent User gets disabled or locked out of Windows. This account will have the same password as your main parent account, though you will not be able to edit it at all. Making the Backup Administrator account is highly recommended.
   
8. Next, you should decide if you want to use the WatchDog Login screen for authentication or the Windows Login screen. If you use the Windows Login screen, you will not need to log in twice (Windows, then WatchDog).
   
9. If you select the Windows Login screen, you will be prompted to import the current Windows user database. Select what users you want imported and which users will have Parent Rights.
   
10. Last, you will have to decide what default settings you want to use for your computer.This screen has several security levels along with their descriptions and any side effects.
    
11. The last step is adding any additional users you wish to the WatchDog database. This screen lists the current users in the database:
    
    You can add new users by selecting the “Add New User” button now or later, once you are done setting up WatchDog. Clicking on Add New User will bring up the wizard shown below. More instructions on adding new users can be found in our Adding a New User Guide)
    
12. Once you are done adding users, please select the “Next” button. You are now done installing WatchDog!
