You can access this screen by following these steps:

  1. Log in with a parent account.
  2. Double-click on the WatchDog icon in the “System Tray” (bottom-right corner of the screen).
  3. In the “User List” double-click on the user account you wish to modify.
  4. In the left navigation bar, click on the “Security” icon (looks like a yellow padlock)


General Security

Allow user to pause session

The ‘Pause Session’ option will be available on the WatchDog tray menu and on the User screen. When a session is paused, WatchDog will take over the entire screen so the user cannot use any other applications or perform other tasks. The user’s free time will not count down while the session is paused.

Do not allow user to change the time or date

WatchDog will ensure that the time and date cannot be changed while it is running.

Hide tray icon

The “brown dog” icon in the Windows icon tray will not be shown (non-Parent users only)

User is visible on the Login Screen

The user’s name will be listed in the drop down user box on the Login Screen. If this option is not selected, you may still log in as the user by entering their name in the “User Name” field.

Visual/Audible timeout warning

WatchDog will display a visual message and sound an audible alert before the user will be logged out.

  • At ___ minutes
    One alert will be shown at the specified time.
  • At 10, 5, 2 then 1 minutes
    Four alerts will be shown at 10, 5, 2 then 1 minutes before the user is logged out.

Allow user to access WatchDog Task Manager

Allows the user to use the WatchDog Task Manager to close down applications. The WatchDog Task Manager will not close any applications listed in the Close All Programs Exclusions list.

You may also wish to disable the Windows Task Manager so users cannot close WatchDog.


Inactivity

Action to take on screen saver start

  • Logout User
    The user will be logged out as soon as the screen saver is started.
  • Stop Counting Time
    The user’s free time will not count down while the screen saver is running.

Keyboard/mouse idle

WatchDog will monitor the keyboard and mouse to determine when the user is not active on the computer.

  • Logout User
    The user will be logged out as soon as the the keyboard and mouse become idle.
  • Stop Counting Time
    The user’s free time will not count down while the user is idle.
