To enable this feature, make sure that the Restrict what programs this user can run checkbox is checked.

Program restrictions allow you to block certain programs from running. You can specify how much time a certain program can be used and when.

  • Exclusive - The programs listed below will be restricted as you specify.
  • Inclusive - Only the programs listed will be allowed to run. Any programs not listed will be closed. All listed programs will run according to how you restrict them. YYou can also use Add Startup to add programs that are set to start at Windows startup. These two buttons help you make sure that you do not accidentally restrict a program that is essential for normal Windows operation.

Add Startup…

Adds all programs in the registry and Startup folder to the list of programs that can run.

Add Current…

Adds all currently running programs to the list.

Add Restricted Application

File Name

WatchDog will close any programs that match the file name specified.

File checksum

Once you select the program’s file name, WatchDog will automatically calculate the file’s checksum. The checksum is a fingerprint of the contents of the program, so if the program is renamed before it is run, WatchDog will still know it is the old file.

If you upgrade any software, you might need to use the Calculate… button again as the upgraded software’s program file may have changed.
